Jamie at Bill Higham Marine did a great job setting me up with a new Zodiac RIB, trailer and all the extras I was after.

I first encountered Higham Marine about 9 years ago when having got tired of Honwave transoms rotting out , Zodiac valves being expensive to replace way too frequently when I got sand in there accidentally , and Avons being hellishly overpriced for a leisure boater on a work like budget . Simon Higham had developed the SeaPro HD range to a better spec , using a unique fabric that’s durable but tough and my first Seapro was the 340HD. I live in Cornwall and it’s a little rugged round the coastline and we’re dogged by Pacific Oysters too which have sharp edges to their shells . I’ve had punctures in every inflatable … except my 340 HD . It’s now 9 years old so I’ve just had delivery of a new SeaPro 310HD . Meantime the pontoon in the harbour ate the bow off my grp Dory as the glass fibre is no match for swells against a pontoon and it can be carnage in summer when boaters fight for space to moor up across each others boats . That , right there is the prime situation for needing a better quality boat . Any can be used , but can they survive life in the meantime and for me , 19 years as sailmaker here , yacht racer and student marine scientist, the boat has to be versatile . I’ve towed it to the Solent behind a yacht , I’ve carried divers and their kit for surveys and the sectional aluminium floor hasn’t even dented . I’ve beached it and it’s light enough to roll over and scrub the bottom mid season and this really is a little inflatable that can do big things and not need a trailer or boat lift either . Please folks , don’t mistakenly compare the price to lesser boats , even the assembly works precisely by design ! The upgrade to an all aluminium sectional strengthened transom around 2021 proves Higham Marine listen to us the customer and improved the design so negligence no longer leads to rotting transoms when left full of water for extended periods. Come on people don’t always get it right do we ? I sure don’t , but this range of inflatable boats are the Tonka Toys of the industry. The boat is half the equation. The company. ? I’m in Fowey ( deepest darkest Cornwall ) and I’m happy to give my business to a bunch of great people in Wales ! The reason being they know their products . They care that we get maximum fun for our quid . They go above and beyond to make sure we’re happy to have bought from them , and I’ve dealt with a LOT of boat dealers , owners , fellow yacht racers and owners in my time but won’t shop elsewhere! This week they chatted delivery options with me , confirmed yesterday that my new boat would be delivered today . I woke to messages with tracking details , a courtesy message and Jamie rang me to make sure the pallet line courier had arrived and found me . Come on folks , I’m a 55 year old Luddite afraid of technology and even in this social climate Bill Higham Marines customer support installs confidence in buying online . Just purchased my Parsun Long shaft 4stroke, Jamie Williams was very helpful over the phone and obviously very knowledgeable in this field. I had a very slight hiccup on running engine within an hour (My total mistake) I rang Jamie and within 2 minutes my issue was solved, So engine seems very good value for money with 3 years warranty, hopefully runs well over time Would recommend these guys

After buying a new trailer from them and discovering they do repairs and servicing I gave them a try. Friendly, helpful and look like they’ve done a great job, definitely will use again.

I am very impressed with the service I have received from Jamie at Bill Highams Marine. I phoned and had many questions about the outboard I wanted to buy. All my questions were answered honestly and in detail which led me to purchasing the engine. The purchase was straigtforward and supported again by instructions from Jamie who ensured everything went without problems. He is a good front man for the company. Took my newly purchased Zodiac Pro 500 with 50hp Tohatsu out for the first time today. A big thank you to Jamie and the team for helping me spec. this superb Rib, looking forward to some warmer days ahead exploring the coast line of North Wales. April Bank holiday, a lot warmer and calmer, great day out on the water. Still running engine-in but thats ok as I get to know how she handles. Always puts a smile on my face :)

From the first phone call I found the staff at Bill Higham Marine both knowledgable and helpful. I wanted to replace my old Zodiac Furtura 4.7m inflatable and 40 horse two stroke engine with a new boat and four stroke engine.. I set my budget and Aled Jones talked over and costed me a couple of options for this and I was just about to finalise my order when I visited the boat yard and saw the Zodiac Pro 500 RIB. I realised that this is what I really wanted. Yes, it blew my budget but I knew it would be worth it in the long run. It was back to the drawing board and Aled helped me design a custom rigged boat with tiller steering so I could keep as much available deck space for SCUBA diving equipment. I decided on an electric start 50 horse power Tohatsu four stroke with tiller steering. We installed the battery in the handy anchor locker and put the fuel tank forward in order to even out weight distribution fore and aft. Also mounted forward are two boat boxes for storing flares, first aid kit, tools and spares. The electronics have been mounted on the A-frame with a Garmin Echomap 45+ CV, navigation and anchor lights and a hand held waterproof radio. There is also a bracket for mounting a dive flag. Aled found me an extension arm for the GPS and echo sounder which gives good visibility to the person driving the boat and sitting on the port side tube. Most RIBs are designed for console steering so Aled suggested a non-slip patch be glued onto the port side tube in the driver seat position. The deck is covered with rubber matting for extra grip and to prevent damage to the gel coat by diving gear. Switches for the electronics, including a bilge pump have been mounted on the front of the anchor locker. For security, a outboard motor Vcanolock has been installed. The trailer is a EXT750 Maxi roller customised with a spare wheel and handy handles for moving it around by hand. When I finally took delivery of the boat the workmanship (largely done by Kyle) was first class. Aled and the team at Bill Higham marine are very much customer focused, a rare thing these days. Their priority was getting me the boat that I really wanted rigged to maximum functionality and all at a competitive price. They are not just box shifters looking for a quick sale. Sea trials so far have gone well (I’ve only had the boat a week). There will be odd tweaks needed here and there but basically the boat and rig are sound. I would like to thank Bill Higham marine (and especially Aled and Kyle) for going the extra mile to get me a great boat which I hope will last me many years. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
